It is important for each of us to watch and learn from people who launch ad homonym attacks on the estimated 2 million caring families who elect to home school. Ironically, given the backgrounds of many of those who disparage home schooling, the decision to home school is very much a question of choice in education. Most often, in their view, we can seemingly destroy life at will with impunity as a choice, but cannot have the same certainty of choice and options in the education of the life we choose to bring into the world. Of course, this dichotomy in belief is inconsistent, but not at all surprising, given the typical emotional response offered by most of the anti home school crowd over any reasoned argument or discussion.
We must discover who these critics of home schooling are along with their motivations and their agendas. Often, in the light public scrutiny from the uncovering of their own words; we come to understand who they are and what they believe. From this, we can typically conclude that most are not truly dangerous, but rather seem as weak minded followers of an agenda which cries out for attention in a most piteous and pathetic way.

West "The Harms of Homeschooling", a seemingly flawed, biased and rather inaccurate read on Home Schooling contained within the Philosophy & Public Policy Quarterly from the University of Maryland Summer/Fall 2009 here.
